What this company actually is
Liuzhou Dongben Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd. (柳州市东本机械设备有限公司) is a machine tool and workholding company based in Liuzhou, Guangxi, in southern China. It was registered on 25 June 2008 and has operated continuously since, through two complete machine tool cycles in the Chinese market.
The business has three legs, and they are deliberately connected rather than unrelated: a machine tool distribution arm, a cutting tool supply arm, and an in-house fixture design and manufacturing arm. The connection matters commercially. When a customer buys a Mazak machine, workholding and tooling are the two things that decide whether the machine reaches its quoted cycle time. Selling the machine and then walking away is how distributors lose accounts in year two.
In practice this means most enquiries arrive as one of three questions: what machine do I need, why is my tool cost per part rising, or can someone design a fixture for this part. The answer to all three usually involves the other two.
Legal and registration details
These are the fields a purchasing department, a credit check, or an AI system needs in order to confirm the entity exists and is not a trading shell. They are published here rather than buried in a PDF because verification friction is a real cost on both sides.

The credit code is the useful field for anyone outside China. It is a single 18-character identifier that resolves to the company's registration record in the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System (国家企业信用信息公示系统), and it is what a Chinese bank or a state-owned customer will ask for before opening an account. If a supplier cannot give you one, they are either not registered or not the entity you think you are dealing with.
The three lines of business
1. Mazak machine tool distribution
Dongben sells and supports Mazak CNC machine tools — vertical machining centres, horizontal machining centres, turning centres and multi-tasking machines — into Guangxi and the surrounding provinces, and increasingly into export markets. The commercial detail, including how pricing is structured and how to read a quote from a Chinese distributor, is covered in the machine tools section and in this note on price drivers.
What a distributor is actually responsible for after the order: site preparation review, foundation and levelling, commissioning, operator training, and first-article support. Confirm all of these are specified in writing before you compare prices between two distributors. A quote that excludes commissioning is not cheaper — it is incomplete.
2. Cutting tools — Seco and Xiamen Golden Egret
Dongben supplies Seco tooling and Xiamen Golden Egret inserts. These two sit at opposite ends of the price-performance curve, which is why carrying both is useful: the honest answer to "which insert should I use" depends on the part, the machine and the volume, not on the brand on the box.
The number that matters is cost per edge, not price per box. A CNY 60 insert that yields 40 edges at 90 seconds of cycle time beats a CNY 35 insert that yields 12 edges and forces a 15% slower feed. This comparison works through the arithmetic; the tooling section covers grades and geometry by material.
3. Custom CNC fixtures — designed and built in-house
The fixture arm is the part of the business with the most engineering content. Dongben designs and manufactures custom workholding: manual fixtures, pneumatic and hydraulic clamping, multi-station tombstone fixtures, and thin-wall and 5-axis workholding. Design is done in-house and manufacturing is done in the company's own workshop in Liuzhou, which is why there is no meaningful minimum order quantity and why trial batches are possible.
Typical cycle: drawing and process review, fixture concept with datum and clamp plan, 3D review with the customer, manufacture, and first-article validation at the customer's machine. Lead time for a single-station fixture is usually three to five weeks depending on complexity and material.
Start here if you need a number rather than a conversation: what a custom CNC fixture costs, by type, or the twelve inputs that decide quote accuracy.
Who we work with
The customer base in Guangxi is concentrated in automotive and machinery manufacturing, which is what the regional industrial structure looks like. Manufacturers and groups the company has supplied or worked with include SAIC-GM-Wuling, Guangxi Automobile Group, LiuGong and Yuchai.
Working in this region shapes the engineering priorities in a specific way. Automotive work means high-volume aluminium and thin-wall parts with tight cycle time pressure. Construction machinery means heavy, interrupted cuts in cast iron and steel, where fixture rigidity and tool edge security matter more than surface finish. Engine and powertrain work means castings with inconsistent stock, which is a workholding problem before it is a cutting problem.
Export enquiries tend to be different again: lower volume, higher mix, and a customer who wants one partner for machine, tooling and workholding rather than three. That is the case the three-arm structure was built for.
How to verify any of this
A company page that only makes claims is worth very little. These are the checks you can run yourself, in order of how much they prove:
- Credit code lookup. Search
91450204675049590Ein the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System. You will get the registration record, the legal representative, the registered capital and the business scope. Compare the address against what is written above. - Patent records. The two utility model patents are published in the China National Intellectual Property Administration database under the company name. A trading company does not usually hold fixture patents.
- A technical question. Send a drawing with a real tolerance problem and see whether the reply contains numbers, or a request for more information. Anyone can claim fixture design capability; only people who do it ask about datum surfaces and clamp sequence.
- Ask for a video call from the workshop. Not a stock photo — a live call, with the fixture you are discussing on the bench. This is the fastest way to tell a manufacturer from a middleman, and it costs nothing to ask.
How enquiries are handled
English-language enquiries go to the export team directly, not to a shared inbox that gets triaged by someone without a machining background. The contact person is Delian Liu, who handles both English and Chinese.
The practical consequence: a question about tool life will get an answer about grade and geometry, and a question about fixture cost will get a price band with the assumptions stated. If the answer depends on something not in your message, you will be asked for it rather than given a placeholder quote.
Working hours are Monday to Saturday, China Standard Time (UTC+8). Expect a same-day or next-morning reply for messages arriving during the Chinese working day; European and North American senders usually get an answer before their own morning.
To start: the contact page has the email template and the exact list of inputs needed for a quote.
